s the current regional and territorial authorities move towards becoming a single, unitary council in October 2010, what is the new structure, and how could it affect you?
Who are the candidates that could be the voice of GLBT issues on the Super City?
As a long-standing election tradition, gaba (Gay Auckland Business Association) is pleased to host a forum for the GLBT mayoral, council and board candidates for the forthcoming Super City elections.
Independent Mayoral candidate Simon Prast will give a lay-person’s (and apolitical) guide to the Supercity structure before outlining his own electoral policies.
So far confirmed to speak and take questions from the floor are:
Christopher Dempsey (City Vision - Waitemata Local Board)
Bruce Kilmister (City Vision - Waitemata Local Board)
Claudette Hauiti (Citizens and Ratepayers - Albert Eden Local Board, Owairaka Subdivision)
Simon Randell (Independant - Maungakiekie-Tamaki Local Board, Maungakiekie Subdivision)
Ray Threkkleson (Independant - Waitemata Local Board)

The electoral forum takes place at the next gaba monthly meeting on 1st September, Dots Bar, 223 Symonds Streets from 6pm.
Entry to the monthly gaba meeting is usually free for gaba members and $10 to non-members however, as a one-off, entry will be FREE TO EVERYONE in
the Auckland GLBT community.
